Choirfest 2023

  Choirfest will be held on  Thursday, September 28 , 2023 at First Baptist Blackshear , beginning at  6:30 PM . Information and registration forms have been mailed to each church. If you have not received this information, please contact the POBA Office at (912) 285-8161. The deadline for registration forms is Thursday, September 14, 2023. The form can be completed online at: https://bit.ly/Choirfest2023Reg . Choirfest is designed as a time for us to worship together and experience the worship that takes place each week in our individual churches. Churches are encouraged to make every effort to come and sing AND stay and worship with the other choirs.  We are looking forward to this time of worship with the churches of the Piedmont-Okefenokee Baptist Association!

Round Tables for Disciple-Making, Evangelism, and Missions

  There are three Round Tables scheduled in the coming months. The Disciple-Making Round Table will be held on August 3, 2023 at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church beginning at 6:30 PM. Finger Foods will be provided. UPDATE:  There will be two duplicate meeting options for the Evangelism Round Table. On August 31, 2023 there will be a 10:30 AM at Deenwood Baptist Church and a 6:30 PM session at Sand Hill Baptist Church. A meal will be provided. Baptist Collegiate Ministries at SGSC Waycross

  Take advantage of the opportunity to engage college students through the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. POBA churches can host a meal (for 20) and share a devotional beginning in August during fall semester at South Georgia State College , Waycross campus. Christmas Backpacks will be collected in August

  POBA will be collecting Christmas Backpacks during the month of August. Backpacks can be boxed and brought to the POBA Office. Hymn Story: Be Thou My Vision

  (Sam Stack)   The text of this hymn comes to us from the Irish church sometime during the seventh or eighth century. It is filled with various titles for God. The word vision refers to our focus and the goals we strive to obtain. As we go though life we can realize that our short term failures and disappointments are trivial when compared to the vision of heaven.   The text was translated and set into verse form by Mary Elizabeth Byrne and Eleanor Henrietta Hull.
