Collection for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home

  Update : Thank you to each individual and church who brought donations for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. Your generosity is appreciated! To date we have received donations from the following churches (as well as individuals): Astoria, Calvary, Laura Chapel, Liberty, Millwood, Mt. Calvary, Newbern, Pleasant Hill, and South Gate. The POBA will be collecting items for the Georgia Baptist Children's Home throughout the month of May. Items should be brought to the POBA Office by Thursday, May 23, 2024.  Suggested items are: Mixed vegetables BBQ sauce Ketchup Paper towels Seasonings (any) Laundry detergent (liquid) gift cards Please contact the POBA Office at (912) 285-8161 with any questions. 

Highlights from the Regular Meeting

  There were 16 churches represented at the April 2024 Regular Meeting held at Laura Chapel Baptist Church. The following churches were represented: Camp Pinckney, Central, First Blackshear, Hickox, Laura Chapel, Manor Community, Mt. Calvary, Pineview, Pleasant Hill, Pleasant Valley, Set Free, South Gate, Southside Nahunta, Ten Mile, Waynesville, Youmans Chapel. Highlights: Approved forms for POBA Leadership & Policy Manual Presented proposed bylaw amendment (to be considered at Annual Meeting)   These documents can be seen at https://www.mypoba.org/governingdocuments

2024 Scholarship for Seminary Students

  For Seminary Students: Crawford Street Baptist Church (formerly located in Waycross, Georgia) established a fund to provide scholarships to Southern Baptist theological seminary students. Piedmont Okefenokee Baptist Association has the privilege of nominating candidates to receive a scholarship to students out of the POBA   who will be attending one of the six Southern Baptist Theological Seminaries in the fall of 2024. Created for Worship: Red Back Hymn Sing

  Monday, May 13 10:30 AM Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Guest Speaker: Randy Mullinax   The Senior Adult gathering: “Created for Worship” will be held at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Waycross on Monday, May 13, beginning at 10:30 AM. Songs will be from the Red Back Hymnal. This year’s guest speaker will be Randy Mullinax. Lunch will follow. There is a suggested donation of $5 to help with the cost of lunch. Hymn Story: Day By Day

  I have often been advised and have given the age old advice to take things “One step at a time”. Perhaps you’ve heard the old saying on how to eat an elephant…by taking one bite at a time! When faced with a difficult situation or trial in your life, whether it be spiritual trial, or just the everyday stresses of life, we too should remind ourselves that we need to take our walk with Jesus one day, one step, or even one bite at a time. This month’s hymn article is titled “Day By Day”. It was written by Caroline Sandell-Berg in Sweden. This is a hymn of peace and assurance of God’s watch, care, and provision for His children as we walk this earth each day. Let’s read the words of hymn together.
