  Pleasant Valley Baptist Church will host their 5th Annual "Red Back" Hymn Sing on March 12, 2023 beginning at 6:00 PM. Pleasant Valley Baptist Church is located at 7136 Central Avenue in Waycross. All are invited to attend. 

  The POBA Piano Festival will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM.   The   winners will play at Choirfest. Contact the POBA Office or your POBA music minister for a registration form. Entry Deadline: April 2, 2023 Music Requirements: (1) Hymn from list (below) , played in a style suitable to accompany congregational singing. (1) Piece of choice, appropriate for a church worship service. Audition will be a minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 10 minutes. Hymn List: Come, Thou Almighty King Praise Him! Praise Him!   Hymn Stories: Wherever He Leads, I'll Go  (Sam Stack) This month, I want to share a hymn article that I wrote in 2021.   Wherever He Leads I’ll Go is one of my favorite invitational hymns and the hymns of B. B. McKinney have greatly influenced Baptist life over the last eighty plus years. B. B. McKinney (1886 – 1952) had a great influence on Southern Baptist music in the early 20 th Century.   He served as an educator, music editor, and pastor.   In 1935, he came to the Sunday School Board of the SBC (now Lifeway).   In 1941, he became the first secretary (director) of the newly created Church Music Department of the Sunday School Board (now called Lifeway Worship). Under his leadership the Sunday School board produced three hymnals, Songs of Victory (1937), The Broadman Hymnal (1940), and Voice of Praise (1948).   2023 Challenge In 2022 our focus was on prayer. In 2023 I want to challenge us to focus on the Bible.  Our theme is "Treasure the Word of God."    Personally  - Invest in your personal relationship with God by reading your Bible daily.   Community  - Make Bibles available to every home that does not have a copy or to each child in third grade.   Nationally  - Partner with a church planter to make Bibles available to those they are seeking to reach.   Internationally  - Partner with a church, church planter or missionary to make Bibles available to the people group you and/or they are seeking to reach.   The POBA Royal Ambassadors Camporee will be held on March 10-11 at Lake Wendi Place.  The Camporee begins at 5:00 PM on March 10. The cost is $15/camper.  --- The POBA Royal Ambassadors Racer Derby was be held on February 11, 2023 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Waycross.  Registration began at 8:30 AM.   The class “New Testament Survey” will begin on March 9, 2023. Classes will meet on Thursdays at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church in Blackshear, 7:00 PM.  The cost of the book for this class is $20. Please contact the POBA Office at (912) 285-8161 for more information or to register.
